The library is transitioning to a service called OpenAthens for authentication. When you ‘authenticate’ to a library resource, you are confirming you are allowed to have access by inputting credentials associated with Fielding.
You will still log-in to the larger Fielding Alumni Association website the same way you have done in the past, using whatever credentials you used when you signed up.
When you first click to access a subscription resource within an alumni library collection (such as an article, book, or database), you will now see a new log-in screen which requires an @fielding.edu account and password. This account may be different than the one you use to log-in to the alumni association website.
If you already have an @fielding.edu account, then you can use it with this service. If you don't have one, you can request those credentials by opening an IT Support Ticket. In the ticket, let IT know that you are alum who needs credentials to access the alumni library collections. If you signed up for the Extended Alumni Library, please be sure to let them know that as well.
After authenticating once, your session will remain active for a number of hours so you are not repeatedly prompted to enter your credentials. If you have trouble logging in or accessing your credentials, please open a Support Ticket. If you have questions about utilizing the alumni libraries, please contact the library: library@fielding.edu.
The OpenAthens log-in screen and procedure:
When you first click on a subscription resource in an alumni library, you’ll see this page:
You will always click on the option for Fielding Graduate University unless you’ve been instructed to use the other one.
Once you choose Fielding, you will see our Microsoft log-in screen where you will enter your Fielding username followed by your password.
Once you log-in the first time your session will remain active for a number of hours.
