A few of our subscription databases will recognize that you are now logging in using a Single Sign On provider (which is OpenAthens). Those databases automatically 'personalize' an account for you the first time you log in. This just means that they create an account for you, based on your log-in information, to make it easier for you to save content in that database. In the past, you might have already created an individual account in these databases on your own. If you did, you'll need to take a few steps to back-up content or merge the accounts. See the information on this page to learn more details if applicable to you.
To see if this step applies to you, first determine if you are using a ProQuest eBook Central account. To do so, connect to the ProQuest eBook Central database. Click on 'log-in' to sign into your account. We did not issue you an account, so if you have one then it is one you created. If you do not have an account, then no further action is necessary. If you do have an account, be sure to make a note of your log-in credentials as we will need them later.
If you do have an account, next check to see if you've saved any content therein. If you did not save any content, then no further action is necessary.
If you do have an account, and you've saved content, then there are a couple actions you can take to ensure no content is lost. First, follow the steps outlined by ProQuest to back up your content. Make sure to back up your content before December 16th, 2024. Next, consider if you would like your old bookshelf content merged with your new account after the switch. This may only be necessary if you have saved a good deal of content in the old account. ProQuest can merge the two accounts, but the request must be made by a librarian. We will need some important information from you to make the request. You can learn more on ProQuest's support page.
To see if this step applies, first determine if you have a MyEBSCO account. To do so, log-in to any EBSCO database, such as eBooks on EBSCOHost, and click on 'Sign in' along the top. We did not issue you any credentials, so you'll only have an account if you created one. If you don't have an account, then no further action is needed. If you do have an account, please make sure to write down the log-in credentials associated with your account. Also make note if you are logging with a username/password, or if you use the log-in with Google feature. You'll need to know these details after the switch.
At some point after we 'Go Live', you can merge your old account to the new one which will be automatically issued as part of OpenAthens. You can view the steps to merge accounts on the EBSCO support site, or just email the library and we can send them to you. Upon merging the accounts no further action is needed.
