Our library content may be accessed in two ways:
Option One: You may first log-in to Moodle or MyFielding then follow the 'library' links to land on our homepage. From the homepage you can utilize FASTsearch or follow links to access our databases and journal and book content.
Option Two: Instead of having to pass through Moodle or MyFielding, you can also utilize 'permalinks' and 'proxied URLs' to connect directly to content. Many databases provide permalinks which you can copy and save; if not, you can build your own proxied links by adding Fielding's library proxy prefix to URLs.

What is a permalink?
The URLs created during your library searches are temporary. Permalinks, also known as persistent links or stable URLs, are URLs which will consistently connect you back to a resource. When you are viewing a particular resource, locating and saving its permalink will allow you to connect back to that resource later, simply by copying and pasting the permalink into your browser's address bar.
When you copy the link into your address bar, you will be re-directed to a log-in page to confirm you are authorized to access the content. Simply input your MyFielding username and password to proceed on to the content itself:
What is a proxied URL?
A proxied URL is very similar to a permalink, but the user is responsible for 'building' it. While many databases offer persistent or stable URLs for their content, not all do. In cases where there is no readily available permalink, you can create your own proxied URL which will allow you to connect to the resource. To do so, you would add the library's proxy prefix to the URL, like so:
Why would I use them?
The URLs created during your library searches are temporary and can change based on the search terms and filters you apply. If you save one of these temporary URLs it will likely not redirect you back to the content you need later. Although there are exceptions, such as databases which use DOI numbers for their URLs. In many cases, utilizing a permalink or creating a proxied URL will ensure you can access what you need. If you're unsure, make sure to test the link you saved in a new browser so you know it will work.
